Happy New Year!!

Peace and blessings fam! Happy New Year!  Welcome to all of my new followers! I want to thank everyone who has been on this mental wellness journey with me through 2019.  We had some ups and downs didn’t we?  I am looking forward to continuously providing you mental health tools and tips in the form of encouragement, empowerment, and education.  Some of you good folks did your reflection work at the end of 2019.  This post is for those of US who did not do that.  At the end of 2019 I was winding down and I was taking a much needed rest.  Even during the 1st day of the year proper, I didn’t have a great deal of energy to dedicate to reflection.  So if you are in this boat too, this post is for you!! It’s never too late for reflection.  Anyway, as we reflect, let’s not only reflect on the last year, but also let’s look at the last decade.  Reflection is such a powerful practice because it helps us to see our progression, regression, habits, patterns, and growth.  After all, hindsight is 2020 😉 In your reflection time, I want to encourage you to do the following:

  1. Go back through your old journals, social media posts, and photos
  2. Identify the who, what, when, where, and how of your experiences
  3. Identify how you felt in those seasons
  4. Identify your setbacks
  5. Identify your accomplishments
  6. Identify what you learned about yourself in those processes
  7. Sit with these thoughts and feelings without judgement, practice acceptance of where you have been and what has brought you to this present moment

In the next post I will talk about how to use those reflections to embrace 2020 and beyond!
